The next morning, we all woke up and had the continental breakfast. We were so excited to get on the road again and make it to our new home. We were just 5 short hours away from our destination. I will never forget that it was on St. Patty’s Day! When we made it, we went straight to my parents’ house. The kids went in my parent’s hot tub to unwind; us adults had a celebratory drink! What a relief it was to get away from something so toxic and begin a beautiful life! We spent the next couple of days with my parents. It was a weird feeling, as I was looking forward to having my own space with my boys, it was also terrifying. To think that I was the only one that they depended on for protection and safety. The first night at our new home was exciting but it also felt weird. It was quiet, peaceful and just something I wasn’t used to after being in a toxic house for 10 years. I thought to myself, I could get used to this.
